TERMES (No 863)
One of the “five sons of Carcassonne”, and one of the main attractions of the Cathar country, Termes is today steeped in history. Stroll down its narrow streets, under its covered passageways, to the 12th century church or to the banks of the river Sou which passes through the village. The gîte has a view over the river from a large south-facing veranda.

VILLEROUGE-TERMENÈS
(N° 864)
One of the focal points of Catharism, Villerouge witnessed the death of Guilhem Bélibast, the last Cathar ‘priest’, burnt at the stake in 1321. In the centre of the village the medieval castle, once the property of the archbishops of Narbonne, today houses a multimedia exhibition. In one wing of the castle you will find a restaurant specialising in medieval banquets, where you can try 13th- and 14th-century menus. The village has a grocer’s shop, a café, a postal counter, Internet and fax facilities, and a wine bar.
