The Corbières
With their average height of 500m (1600ft), the Corbières hills are a natural tangle of rocky slopes criss-crossed by deep ravines. The Mediterranean climate, the limpid blue sky, the dry, bare heath with its scattered shrubs, the valleys and slopes planted with vines, all go to give this area its unique character.

Vine growing goes back a very long way and Corbières wine was already well-known at the time of the Roman empire. The full-bodied and full-flavoured AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) and the sweet dessert wines of the area need no further introduction.
"Cypress trees, stone, rosemary, vines and heath: these are the Corbières"
Following in the footsteps of the famous writers Henri Gougaud, Joseph Delteil and Charles Cros, the guide to the "Citadelles du Vertige" (fortresses in the sky) will take you on a voyage of discovery to wine cellars where you can sample and buy local produce.
